A Log Cabin Block of the Month by DuckaDilly

We are thrilled to welcome back Avonlea, a log cabin block of the month! A sister-project to our earlier Green Gables quilt, Avonlea is a further exploration of the beauty and versatility of the classic log cabin quilt block. Each month, we'll discover more of a  soft rainbow of Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics, culminating in a powerfully delicate medallion design.

BOM Details

Finished Quilt Top Dimensions: 95" x 95." Queen Sized Quilt.

BOM Length: 12 months

The Avonlea quilt is composed of 100 log cabin blocks. 

Each month, you will receive a beautiful DuckaDilly box, which will include the necessary Tana Lawn® to complete that month's log cabin blocks. We will prepare the Tana Lawn® by pre-cutting the fabrics into strips for the "logs" of each block. 

General instructions will be provided by PDF at the beginning of the BOM. Additional instructions will be provided each month via PDF.

We will provide all of the necessary fabric to complete the Avonlea quilt top –approximately 15 yards of Liberty Tana Lawn®, in a "soft rainbow" palette, as shown in the photo.

Sewing Level:
Avonlea is suitable for all levels. Log cabin blocks are very forgiving and are a wonderful block for beginning quilters.

Log Cabin Cutting Acrylics
Two log cabin cutting acrylics are available:
1) 2" x 2" Fussy Cut Acrylic, which is helpful for fussy cutting the center square of each block.
2) 10" x 10" Log Cabin Acrylic, which is a vital tool for trimming your log cabin blocks.

Fussy Cutting Bundle
If you would like to "fussy cut" the center square of your log cabin blocks we have a "fussy cutting" bundle available as an add-on. This bundle is a one-time purchase and will ship the first month of the BOM. This bundle is not necessary to complete the quilt, but can provide fun and whimsical centers for each block.  If you choose not to fussy cut the blocks' centers, you can use the fabric strips provided each month for the block centers.

Avonlea BOM FAQs:

• Shipments will begin May 2025, and after your first charge, you won't be charged again until June 2025.
• Boxes will be shipped on or around the 18th of each month.
