Instructions and Sewing Level

Dear Jane is a quilt pattern by Brenda Papadakis, based on the 1863 Jane Stickle quilt.

It is necessary that you own a copy of Brenda's book Dear Jane to complete this project.

We have copies available for purchase to ship in your first month's box, if you do not already own a copy. 

In addition, printed modification booklets are included each month, noting any changes from Brenda's pattern to the EPP papers. 

Dear Jane is appropriate for confident beginners.

We'll be encountering a range of skills, including EPP curves, appliqué, and small pieces. No technique is too complicated, and we'll have tips and tricks along the way!

If you are brand new to English Paper Piecing, Dear Jane is a great way to encounter many shapes and techniques! If you are an experienced sewist, Dear Jane still has enough surprises to keep you on your toes!

Subscription Schedule

Dear Jane is an 18-month BOM.

Monthly Subscribers

  • Shipments will begin March 2026.
  • When you sign-up, that is considered your Month 1 charge.
  • You won't be charged again until Month 2 (April 2026).
  • You will receive a total of 18 monthly shipments.

Every 2 Months Subscribers

  • Your first box, containing materials for Months 1 and 2, will ship April 2026.
  • You won't be charged again until Month 3 (May 2026), and your charge will be for Months 3 and 4.
  • Your second shipment will have materials for Months 3 and 4, shipping June 2026.
  • You will receive a total of 9 bi-monthly shipments.

Prepaid Monthly Subscribers

  • Your first box, containing materials for Month 1, will ship March 2026, and you will receive 18 monthly shipments.
  • International customers: please contact us before checking out with a Prepaid Monthly Subscription. Additional shipping charges will apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I provide my own background fabric?

Absolutely! While we do offer and recommend Solid White Tana Lawn® as a background option for Dear Jane, you can select to provide your own background fabric when checking out with your subscription.

If you choose to provide your own background fabric, some lovely options include: Liberty Tana Lawn®, linen, chambray, and solid quilting cotton. You will need approximately 14.25 yards of 52" wide fabric or 17 yards of 44" wide fabric. 

How will I receive my instructions?

The pattern for this quilt is the book Dear Jane by Brenda Papadakis, and it is necessary to own a copy to complete this BOM. We have copies available for purchase if you don't already own one.

In addition to your book, monthly fabric placement PDFs will be provided directly into your customer account on the DuckaDilly website.

Please check out with the email address that will be used for the duration of the BOM. The email address will be used for important BOM correspondence, such as payment confirmation, shipping updates, and accessing instructions.

Dear Jane Acrylic Set

The Dear Jane Acrylic Set is available in 1/4" and 3/8" seam allowance. The acrylic set is not necessary to complete the Dear Jane quilt. Because there are so many pieces in the quilt, the 10-piece set only covers the most common shapes.

Backing and Binding Coupon Code

When the BOM is complete, we will provide many recommendations for backing and binding!

Additionally, stitchers will receive a one-time 20% off DuckaDilly coupon code. This can be used for backing and binding fabrics or any other sewing needs.
